About the Author Dr. Soma Chand is a historian cum litterateur of immense repute. During her last thirty-eighty years of pedagogic career, she has earned the distinction not only of a brilliant teacher but a sedulous researcher. Her research acumen addresses intellectual and cultural ethos of Odisha with more affinity for martial legacy and heritage. In her hands the fascinating saga of Odishan military identity has found graphic expression with all its grandeur and solemnity. Her treatment of a less discussed character with an assortment of deep insight and analysis for reconstruction of historical edifice draws attention of scholars and stake-holders. Besides, her research publications, she has more than five hundred articles published in prestigious newspapers, periodicals, magazines and forty books which touch upon society from historical and literary perspective. This compilation testifies to her commitment to unearth the marginalized from the catalogue of Odishan Historical Tradition. Dr. Ajit Kumar Sahoo is an Assistant Professor in History, Utkal University since 2015. Before joining at Utkal University, he taught at the Department of History, Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for Women, University of Delhi. He is specialized in modern Indian history and his areas of interest include social history, environmental history and history of subaltern communities in colonial eastern India. Dr. Moushumi Pattnaik, Assistant Professor and Head, P.G Department of Political Science, Shailabala Women's Autonomous College, Cuttack is a young versatile talent. She is a sincere teacher, with much proficiency in her subject. She is currently associated with research activities and guidance. To her credit, she has contributed a number of research papers in journals and books of high acclaim. She has participated and presented papers in national and international level seminars and workshops. She is presently working on a major research project awarded by ICSSR.
